Maria Elena Fodera, M.D.
She received her undergraduate training at Columbia University, New York, New York, graduating cum laude. Dr. Fodera attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C.
Dr. Fodera completed a general surgery residency program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School followed by vascular surgery fellowships at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee and Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Fodera has specialized training in minimally invasive endovascular surgery, laser vein surgery, and diagnostic vascular ultrasound.
In addition to her advanced training in vascular surgery, Dr. Fodera has a strong interest in general and laparoscopic surgery and performs a wide variety of laparoscopic operations. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, American Venous Forum, and American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Dr. Fodera is a designated educator for Diomed, teaching the next generation of surgeons in state of the art minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Fodera prides herself on delivering excellent health care to her patients in a caring and compassionate manner.
Tomasine Fodera, M.D.
She received her Medical Degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. While at Georgetown, she conducted research at the Lombardi Cancer Institute, Division of Breast Oncology.
Dr. Fodera completed a general surgery residency program at St. Bamabas/Monmouth Medical Center, New Jersey. She pursued a surgical breast oncology fellowship at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation/ University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, becoming proficient in stereotactic breast biopsy, the sentinel node procedure, and diagnostic and therapeutic breast ultrasound. There she held appointment as assistant professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology.
In addition to Oncologic Surgery, with special interest in diseases of the breast, Dr. Fodera performs laparoscopic and general surgical procedures. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, SAGES, American Society of Breast Diseases, and American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. Fodera is the former director for St. Vincent's Center for Breast Care, an affiliate of Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She has received Susan G. Komen grants for the center in 2004 and 2005.
Dr. Fodera is dedicated to compassionate quality care using innovative surgical techniques.
